The 8bit of Isaac: NES gameplay by megablast The 8bit of Isaac: NES gameplay by megablast
This is what The Binding of Isaac would look like if it was made for NES. I wonder if anyone would be interested in it.

Made entirely in Photoshop (yes, even the CRT TV effect)

He opted in for a 16 bit style. It will look much better than this! :)

I get the feeling this image may have inspired Edmund to work on the NES style remake of TBoI (see a few posts down on his site) [link]

I think too many colours in the palette for 8bit. Still awesome

I used the exact NES palette for this. It's indeed 8bit in everything. If you notice I also respected the spritemap requirements for an NES game. :)
If Binding of Isaac was to be released for NES, this is how it would probably look like. :)

It would probably lag a lot less on my laptop.

found out its only a flash game, if you run it outside steam, you can turn the quality down so it lags less.

Nice CRT TV effet here !

We NEED a retro-looking version of The Binding of Isaac.

Wow, Ive gotta say, if you showed me this before I first played The Binding of Isaac then I would have thought the game was based off this 'older' NES version.

Flawless! (A NES version would probably run faster than the flash one anyway :P)

Actually you wouldn't have seen the pixels on an old blurry TV :)

Other than some of the colors I think this actually looks better than the original BoI.

I hate to admit it, but you are right. :) The shader needs more blur and I need to find a way to make the pixels non square. Well we can still pretend that this is a newer Sony Trinitron CRT TV (if it wasn't flat), right? :P
For the colours I used the original limited NES palette and then applied the NTSC filter to be as precise to the real thing as possible, so I didn't have much choice on the matter. :)
